Bill Buelow brings to his law practice a diversity of professional experiences. Starting as a touring stage actor after high school, Bill later moved on to careers in business, human services and psychology before transitioning into the practice of law.
"These experiences," says Bill, "have all contributed to my outlook, attitude, and practice of law." Bill explains that his more than twelve years in business management give him understanding and insight not only into the "legal" issues of business, but also to the practical management ones as well. "An effective business attorney," says Bill, "needs to understand that while lawyers are trained to think in terms of winning legal disputes, businesses often have different and conflicting priorities, and that driving a case into court, when effective negotiation will facilitate better business goals, seldom helps the client. That's why," continues Bill, "I work diligently to make sure business owners and managers understand and consider not only the legal options and approaches to conflict resolution, but also the business impact of pursuing such approaches."
Similarly, Bill leans on his experience as a counselor in his work with family law clients. With an approach that recognizes that the issues involved with divorce, child custody and support are much more than just matters of law, Bill brings an uncharacteristic sensitivity to his family law practice. "Most certainly," says Bill, "aggressive and diligent representation of a family-law client is a must - but aggressive representation doesn't mean treating our own clients aggressively. Rather, effective representation in family matters requires understanding that clients often come into the office feeling hurt, broken, betrayed and confused about what to do next. Simply putting on the lawyer cap and ignoring these other issues rarely results in representation that the client finds to be a satisfactory experience."
Educationally, Bill's background follows the diversity of his professional experiences. With Bachelor's degrees (BAs) in Music and Human Services Administration, and a Master's degree (MA) in Psychology, Bill enthusiastically entered Temple University School of Law eagerly looking forward to fulfilling his dream of serving clients as an attorney. After graduating Temple Law magna cum laude, in the top five-percent of his class, and with numerous honors and recognitions, Bill was recruited by the Philadelphia office of Buchanan-Ingersoll, one of the largest and most recognized law firms in Pennsylvania. Bill now applies his "big firm" experience in the more personalized "small firm" practice of BUELOW LAW OFFICES.
When not practicing law, Bill enjoys scuba diving, with a diversity of diving experiences ranging from diving wrecks off the New Jersey coast, reefs throughout the Caribbean, the rocky coasts of Ireland, with humpback whales in Newfoundland, and with sharks off the North Carolina coast. He especially enjoys, as a Scuba Instructor, introducing students and new divers to the fun and excitement of the world under the surface of the sea.
Bill is also active at his church, where he is a worship leader and plays guitar on the worship team.
